Police Identify Victim in Monday’s Homicide Investigation

NORTH JACKSON — Gary Morris, 24, of Jackson, was identified as the victim in Monday’s homicide on Brianfield Cove. Around 1:15 p.m., police were called to the 20 block of Brianfield Cove. Based on the preliminary investigation, Morris was shot outside in the immediate area. He then went to an apartment on Brianfield Cove, forced his way inside and collapsed. The person who lived in the apartment knew Morris. Investigators and a county medical examiner were called to the scene. Morris’ body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for an autopsy. Police are also attempting to identify two persons of interest. They were described as black males in their late teens to early 20s. Both were wearing white t-shirts and one was wearing red shorts. They were last seen in the area of Hillshire Drive and Northfield Cove.
