JACKSON, Tenn- Residents said they’re uneasy about Monday’s shooting that left one man dead. Jackson Police have identified the victim as Gary Morris. The 24-year-old was shot and killed along Brianfield Cove just after one in the afternoon. “People are concerned,” Capt. Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Department said. “We are told there are children that live around there that could have been out during midday.” Police records show Morris had a history of violence in Jackson. According to state records, at the time of his death he was on probation. In 2012, he was found guilty of aggravated assault and filing a false report. Last year he was arrested in Jackson for first degree murder but was released and never charged. “We’re still trying to figure out why he was on Brianfield Cove and how often he frequented the area,” Capt. Miller said. Rodney Mckenzie, who lives close to where the shooting happened said the violence is hurting neighborhoods close to Brianfield Cove. “This area is nice, but our property value is going down because of what happens over there,” McKenzie said. Police are still searching for suspects. According to Miller, they have two persons of interest they are looking to question.
