Gov. Bill Lee will not extend “safer-at-home” order

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Gov. Bill announced that the “safer-at-home” order will not be extended, beginning a phased reopening of the state.

Gov. Lee says the order will expire on April 30, with the majority of business being allowed to reopen on May 1.

“Our Economic Recovery Group is working with industry leaders around the clock so that some businesses can open as soon as Monday, April 27,” Gov. Lee said. “These businesses will open according to specific guidance that we will provide in accordance with state and national experts in both medicine and business.”

A news release from the governor’s office says the administration will be working with Madison, Shelby, Davidson, Hamilton, Knox and Sullivan Counties and their local health departments to help plan their reopening strategies.

Gov. Lee also announced Monday plans to open some state parks across the state.
