Comic Lovers Celebrate Free Comic Book Day

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson store has been in the comics business for 27 years, and Saturday fans lined up out the door for the big day. “The Venom comics – they’re about Venom attacking his worst enemy ever – Spiderman,” Kirk said. Jadyn came to Comics Universe with his family Saturday. This store is was one of many nationwide taking part in free comic book day. “I like the older stuff they have a little bit of everything. I collect Batman, Superman, some of the older comics that have been around for along time,” said Billie Shanes. Customers came in to sort through thousands of comics.Owner Rethel Miller says she loves the people who come into her store. “It kind of brings back memories. it’s peaceful but just reading about superheroes calms you down. It doesn’t hype you up, it calms you down,” explained Miller. Customers walked away with new books added to their collection. Free comic book day takes place every year on the first Saturday in May.
