Suspect charged in April 22 road rage incident

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department has made an arrest in the road rage incident that occurred April 22.

According to a news release, 20-year-old Cyandra D. Reed has been charged with attempted first degree murder for her involvement.

The release states JPD officers responded to an incident involving gun fire near 45 Bypass and Channing Way around 12:50 p.m. on April 22. They were advised that the occupants of a vehicle had shot into another vehicle. Responding officers located the victim, who had sustained non-life threatening injuries and damage to his vehicle.

The victim and witnesses advised officers that the shooter was traveling in a red or maroon colored four-door Infiniti, which continued South on the 45 Bypass.

The release states on April 23, JPD received a tip from a citizen who advised the possible tag number of the suspect vehicle.  After a thorough investigation and assistance from the victim, witnesses, and the community, the occupants of the suspect vehicle were identified and interviewed by Jackson Police Investigators.

The investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a perceived road rage situation that occurred while both vehicles were traveling South on the 45 Bypass, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing and charges against the other occupant in the suspect vehicle are pending.
