Jerry Morris’ Gibson County Sheriff Campaign

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A day before the primaries, Gibson County Sheriff candidate Jerry Morris said he has the experience to get the job done. “I’ve served the citizens of Gibson County for over 24 years. I’ve got a strong desire to serve the citizens and I want to continue to serve the citizens,” said Morris. Morris currently works as a Medina Police Officer. He started his career in law enforcement in 1989, and served there until September 2013. Morris said a few things need to change. “Deputies and law enforcement need to be randomly drug-tested in my opinion or they don’t need to be serving the citizens of the county,” explained Morris. He is also concerned about what’s being done with taxpayer money. “Money is being spent by the Gibson County Jail on inmate medication. It’s being spent in another county, and I will bring that money back into Gibson County,” Morris said. As he stopped by on his way home from work Monday, he said at the end of the day, the people are the most important. “I think the sheriff should be [answering] to the citizens of the county, whether it be by phone or in the office, and I will do that for the citizens of Gibson County,” Morris said. He explained that he hopes people will know that as they head to the polls Tuesday morning. Morris is running against Republican Primary candidate Rodney Wright. Whoever wins Tuesday’s primary election will run against the democratic incumbent Sheriff Chuck Arnold and Independent candidate Paul Thomas.
