Deputies: Woman Steals Luggage, Toilet Paper from Home

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies spent Friday handcuffing suspects in cases of burglaries, theft and vandalism. One woman arrested is accused of passing up a flatscreen television to steal luggage and toilet paper from her former roommate. “Bedsheets and comforters and pillows and bathroom supplies, that was unusual.. There were valuable things in the house she never touched,” said Captain Tracey Grisham with Henderson County Sheriff’s Department. Captain Grisham said Amber Riggs was moving out of a house she used to share with a roommate, the owner of the home. The owner said Riggs came by when she was not there. “While she’s there, witnesses see her go in the back, come out front bringing items outside of the house she was not supposed to get and that did not belong to her,” Captain Grisham said. He said when Riggs went to the back of the house, she allegedly pried open the back door. Courtney Place was surprised Riggs targeted someone she knew so well. “She could take the flatscreens or jewelry or something but she chose to take towels. I think she just did it for more like, just to hurt people, just because she could,” said Place. Place said the recent rise in crime in Henderson and Madison Counties has her worried about her safety. She said there is no excuse for this kind of crime. “People are starting to get out and the economy has been bad but there are more jobs coming into Jackson though so if they’re really wanting to have good stuff in their life and be proud of what they have, even a little fast food job would satisfy their needs,” Place said. Deputies said Riggs was charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property under $500. Others arrested in Henderson County today are: Danny Gregory Rich Deputies said Danny Gregory Rich was charged in three separate theft offenses including a set of Sony Xplod speakers, a Sony Xplod audio amplifier, and a CD player from a vehicle that had been reported stolen and recovered. The audio equipment was stolen prior to the vehicle being stolen with Rich not being involved in the vehicle theft. The motor vehicle theft remains under investigation. Deputies said Rich was also charged in connections to a non-related Aggravated Burglary in which a portion of the stolen property has been recovered and traced back to Rich. They said a third theft offense in which Rich was charged resulted in some of the stolen property being recovered as well and was traced back to Rich. Deputies charged Rich with two counts of theft over $500, one count of theft over $1,000, one count of aggravated burglary and 1 count of criminal trespassing. Natalia Pilar Coates Natalia Coates was living with Brandon Foster in April of 2014. According to deputies, the pair split up with Foster moving out of the residence. On or about April 15, 2014, Foster returned to retrieve personal belongings and found all four tires on his mid 70‘s model Chevy Camaro had been cut. Deputies said proof was obtained to charge Natalia Coates with Vandalism Over $500. They said sugar had also been put into the gas tank of the vehicle and a substance resembling nail polish had been poured onto the body of the car.
