Serial Shoplifter Sentenced to Nearly One Year in Jail

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — After WBBJ viewers identified her from surveillance video, a Jackson woman is sentenced for her crime. On Thursday, Michelle Singleton was ordered to spend 11 months and 29 days in jail for shoplifting. The 38-year-old must also pay restitution. Singleton was arrested in Jackson on April 24 after a traffic stop that led to a brief foot pursuit. She was originally wanted on theft of property under $500 after police say Singleton shoplifted from Sears on March 28 and April 9. According to her prior record, Singleton was found guilty in 2005 and 2012 for shoplifting in Jackson.
