Foreign Company Could Bring 190 Jobs to Madison County

JACKSON, Tenn. — After a year of negotiations, nearly 200 jobs could be coming to Madison County. On Monday, Madison County commissioners approved 60 acres be given to an undisclosed automotive supply company in two stages. The land, which is south of Kirkland’s Industrial Park, would be used for the company to build a new facility. Officials with the Jackson Chamber of Commerce say they are extremely confident the land deal will be approved by the foreign company. County commissioners say if approved, the building process could begin within the year. It will take about 30 to 60 days to find out if the company selected Madison County. According to Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris, at least 160 of of the jobs would be hourly and pay between $15-16/hour, and the rest would be competitive salaried jobs. Commissioners also approved an offer that would give the company a tax break for the next 15 years. It’s now up to the Japanese company to agree to the deal.
