Union City Council Votes Against Chief Keeping Seized Truck

UNION CITY, Tenn.- A West Tennessee police chief must sell his truck after the city changes its mind on letting him buy and drive it. The Union City Council first voted in favor of letting Chief Perry Barfield pay off the lien, which is around $21,000 on the seized 2013 Ford F-150 in April. The vote caused controversy with many saying Chief Barfield should not be driving the truck worth nearly $50,000. According to Chief Barfield, the council revoted Tuesday and chose to sell the truck to the Union City Ford dealership for $36,000.The city said all the money used to buy it will go back into the drug fund.
