JMCSS Teacher of the Year Named

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The top teacher for the year in the Jackson-Madison County School System is named Friday. JMCSS officials announced Sheila Torain from Thelma Barker Elementary as the teacher of the year. Torain received a check from the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation for $1,000 to use in the classroom. Torain says she’s honored to be selected. Torain is a 15-year teaching veteran. She’s been at Thelma Barker for five years and currently teaches the 5th grade.
