Local VFW Celebrates Memorial Day

NORTH JACKSON — This Memorial Day, the VFW Post 1858 honored military men and women who lost their lives fighting for the United States. Among those celebrating was Johnie Tims, 92 who says he served in World War II, and the Vietnam Korean and Wars. Tims says it feels good to remember veterans. “It’s a great honor for the ones who have lost their lives and the ones who are still living for us to remember them on Memorial Day,” Tims said. Tims says he was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1942 to 1969.
