Tennessee Sees Decrease in Deadly Traffic Accidents During Memorial Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Early reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol say traffic fatalities decreased during this year’s Memorial Day holiday across the state. Traffic accidents claimed the life of five this year, while THP reported 10 fatalities during Memorial Day holiday weekend in 2013. According to the preliminary reports, one of the deaths was alcohol-related. THP also arrested 153 drivers on suspicion of DUI and issued 1,532 seat belt citations statewide.
