SCOTTS HILL, Tenn. — Some west Tennessee families will soon see an increase in how much they pay for their monthly water bill. According to city recorder Jan Miller, city leaders in Scotts Hill unanimously approved a rate increase Monday night which would raise the average monthly water bill 73 percent. For example, for a customer who uses an average of 1,500 gallons or less of water per month inside the city limits would see their bill increase to $31.84. For residents outside the city limits for the same amount of water used, their bill would increase to $42.15 per month. City Mayor Jessie Powers told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the reason for the increase is because the city is $1million in debt and they need to increase the town’s revenue. One way to do that is by increasing the amount paid for water usage. The increase will take effect July 1. Stay with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News and www.wbbjtv.com for more details on this story.
