DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The city beer board has approved a new way for two businesses to sell their beer. Tuesday, the Jackson Beer Board gave Rock’N Dough Pizza and Old Medina Market the green light to sell growlers — a 64 ounce jug of draft beer that’s easy to transport. “I think it’s going to change a lot,” Cody Stooksberry, Rock’N Dough Pizza’s front of house manager said. “[It’s going to] change people’s perception on how they can come into a restaurant and get beer to go.” Old Medina’s manager, Susan Adams, agrees with Stooksberry. “Both of us have been fighting for this to be able to do it, and i think it’s a great concept for Jackson,” Adams said. Some Jackson residents say they are excited for the concept, but not everyone agrees. “It’s something new and exciting,” John Garrard, said. “I wish them the best of luck; I’ll try it!” “People taking alcohol home, I mean they’re more likely to drink it while they’re driving home, end up in an accident with somebody getting killed.” another resident said. Customers can already pick up growlers at Rock’N Dough Pizza, and Old Medina Market hopes to have its system up and running sometime this summer.
