Jackson Generals wheelchair basketball team holds fundraiser
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Generals Wheelchair Basketball team got out in the sun on Saturday to wash cars and raise money for their upcoming season. Organizers said it has been nearly ten years since they have had a fundraiser like this. The team said funds were getting low, so they all agreed to raise money by washing cars. The money will go toward hotel stays for away games, fuel, tournament fees and travel expenses. Team captain William Pulley said the money raised was necessary and will be put to great use. “We travel as far, go as far down as New Orleans, sometimes up as to Lexington, Kentucky and out to Charlotte, North Carolina and obviously those trips take lots of money,” Pulley said. Opening season for the team starts in late September or early October.
