HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. – A Mississippi man is behind bars Wednesday after Hardin County deputies said he was growing more than 100 marijuana plants. Deputies said they arrested Tommy Ellis, 39, of Iuka, Mississippi, Tuesday. He faces charges of possession of marijuana, manufacture of marijuana and failure to appear. Deputies said they got a tip that Ellis was possibly growing marijuana in a field near Watkins Road in the Childers Hill area. When they arrived Monday, they reported finding 106 marijuana plants worth $159,000. Some of them were 12 feet tall. Ellis was not at the location of the alleged marijuana grow operation when deputies were there, but was arrested Tuesday. Ellis remains in the Hardin County Jail in lieu of $26,000 bond. He will appear in Hardin County General Sessions Court, Friday morning.
