TIPTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Charges have been upgraded for the woman who said she accidentally shot and killed her husband last December. Angela Denise Brewer is now charged with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. The 43-year-old was previously facing a 2nd Degree Murder charge in connection to her husband’s shooting death. Angela’s husband, William Stanford Brewer, Jr. was found dead in the couple’s bedroom on Dec. 8, 2013. Angela told investigators she woke up around 5:30 that morning, after believing she heard an intruder outside the family’s Brighton home. She says she got a shotgun from a gun case and loaded it, then after checking the back door and front window, returned to the bedroom. Angela told investigators she then tried to wake her husband and placed the weapon in the bed, pointing the barrel of the gun at his head. When she leaned over to wake him, her hand was on the weapon and the shotgun discharged, shooting and killing him. After the Tipton County Grand Jury returned two indictments, Angela was subsequently arrested and booked into the Tipton County Correctional Facility and is being held on $100,000 bond.
