38 indicted after 3-month drug sting in Weakley County

WEAKLEY CO., Tenn. — Thirty-eight men and women are charged after a three-month long drug investigation in Weakley County. Investigators say what started as a hunt for prescription pills led them to finding meth and marijuana, too. On Monday, a grand jury made an indictment for the arrests. Investigators say these arrests show a shift in who’s dealing drugs. “Normally a drug dealer you would consider male, but with prescription pills these days, the females are starting to catch up with the males,” Investigator Eric Smith, with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department said. Charges and possible sentences vary depending on where the suspects reportedly chose to sell the drugs. Some locations included school zones, near daycares and public parks. The undercover sting also led to the seizure of 15 vehicles. Investigators say in several of the cases, the drug dealers had actually been prescribed the pills they were selling.
