Worker Dies After Five-Flight-Fall

A 43-year-old construction worker who survived for nearly a week in the hospital after falling from a five-story building in Belhaven has died. Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart says Stacey Andrew Washington Wednesday night at University of Mississippi Medical Center from multiple blunt force injuries associated with the fall. Washington was admitted to UMC Oct. 12 after falling from a construction site at the Baptist Health System, located across from the Baptist Medical Center. Washington, who was a subcontractor for Harrell Construction, was reportedly wearing a harness, which broke. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has opened an investigation into the accident.
