Police: Woman driving drunk while 9-year-old is in front seat

SOUTH JACKSON — A Jackson woman has been arrested after police say she was driving drunk on Sunday afternoon while her 9-year-old son was in the passenger seat. Officers say Amy Rice, 44, was found asleep at the driver’s seat at a stop sign around 3:15. According to the police report, Jackson Police received multiple phone calls about Rice after eyewitnesses saw her stumble to her car outside of the South Highland Walmart. Rice has been charged with Child Abuse and DUI. Rice was arraigned on Monday morning.
