Church Reaching Out to Kids to Keep Them Away From Violence

JACKSON, Tenn. – Skyline Church of Christ hosted “Church Outside the Walls” Sunday, inviting families in Jackson to visit their church. Organizers of the program want kids to know there is a safe place for them to turn in the community. “It’s a blessing that other people think about our kids. Where we stay, there is nothing for kids to do,” said one mother during the church service. Skyline said it started the program after seeing an increase in crime among kids. “We were heartbroken like everyone else, to see the statistics, and the crime, and the violence that took place around our community,” said Minister Jeff Brown. “Maybe there is some sort’ve hope for the kids. They can see something different other than the environment that we stay in,” said mother Tamika Wells. Skyline hopes to plan more events in the future and hopes other places in Jackson will do the same.
