Second Dollar General robbery in less than two weeks

MICHIE, Tenn. — For the second time in 10 days, McNairy County Dollar General stores have been burglarized by a bold criminal, and it’s all captured on camera. First in Milledgeville, and Wednesday night in Michie, the Dollar Generals in McNairy County have been broken into in the early morning. Surveillance can only get a quick glimpse of the criminals shown using some sort of red truck to pull the safe right out of the store. Lieutenant Brad Johnson with the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department said he is sure the crimes are connected. “We believe it’s gonna be the same people. They’ve got similar tail lights and their structure or body build looks to be pretty much the same as the other,” said Lt. Brad Johnson. Dollar General company officials released the following statement: “Safety and security are a top priority at Dollar General. We employ a number of measures including employee training and technology to keep both our customers and employees safe. To protect the integrity of our safety program, we don’t disclose specific security measures.” Lt. Johnson said stores in the area are taking precautions to prevent this from happening again. Anyone with information is asked to call the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department.
