Local attorneys surveyed about Tennessee Supreme Court Justice retention

JACKSON – Local attorneys gave their opinions on whether three Tennessee Supreme Court Justices should retain their seats in this upcoming election. Justices Gary Wade, Cornelia Clark, and Sharon Lee face retention votes on the Aug. 7 general election ballot. The Jackson-Madison County Bar Association recently performed a survey of its membership to determine if local attorneys support the retention of these three appellate court judges. The results of this survey are as follows: (a) Justice Wade: 27 members highly recommend Justice Wade‘s retention. 15 members simply recommend retention. 18 members do not recommend retention. (b) Justice Clark: 27 members highly recommend Justice Clark‘s retention. 12 members simply recommend retention. 21 members do not recommend retention. (c) Justice Lee: 25 members highly recommend Justice Lee‘s retention. 16 members simply recommend retention. 19 members do not recommend retention. Early voting is going on right now and will end on Aug. 2. Election Day is Aug. 7.
