Residents uneasy while shooting suspects remain on loose

JACKSON Tenn.,- Residents said they are on edge while Jackson Police continue to search for two more possible gunmen wanted in connection to Sunday’s deadly shootings. Jackson Police are currently searching for the second man in connection to the homicide of Justin Williams on North Royal Street, Dontavious Hendrix, 23. So far, officers have only arrested Mondarrius Miller, 21, of Jackson. Officers say Hendrix has only been arrested one other time by their department for a drug charge and unlawful possession of a weapon in 2011. “It just makes you not feel safe to even bring your kids outside to play,” resident Sonya Yarbrough said. Investigators are also looking for another man in connection to Sunday’s shooting in Parkway East Apartments that killed a 17-year-old and sent another 21-year-old to the hospital. Right now officers are not releasing the name of this person of interest. “People are just ignorant now a days,” another resident said. “They just don’t care about children’s safety.” Police said they are doing everything they can to find Hendrix. Families say they are unsure how to stop violence so close to home. “Most of the time it’s not the people who live here. It’s people who come to visit that’s doing the crimes. It just makes it harder for the folks that live here,” Yarbourgh said. Anyone with any information with these shootings is asked to call Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400 or Crimestoppers at (731) 424-TIPS (8477). Tips are anonymous and you could be eligible for a cash reward.
