Two shootings in Brownsville leave one dead
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — One man is dead from a late night shooting in Brownsville, according to police. Brownsville police confirmed two shootings late Sunday night. The first shooting was on the 100 block of Thomas Street around 10:20 p.m. The victim was shot once in the pelvic area. Officers say he was airlifted to the MED. He is in stable condition. “I saw a party going on in front of my house at first, a lot of guys, and soon they left. A little after they left, I heard several shots coming from the Thomas Street area,” resident Barbara Gill said. The second shooting happened about twenty minutes later, around 10:40 p.m., on Young Street. Police say they found the victim, an adult male, with multiple gunshot wounds near a residence. He was transported by EMS, but was pronounced dead before he arrived at the hospital. Gill said she wishes she could move out of the area. “It’s not good at all, and lots of times I wish I could move somewhere else, especially when I see a lot of the younger people gathered up like a party on this street,” Gill explained. The names of both victims have not been released at this time. Officers are not clear if the two shootings are related.
