DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The Jackson City Council met Tuesday at city hall to consider a resolution to rescind the commitment to give about five acres of land to Connections Preparatory School. The council decided to table the resolution for 30 days and to discuss it again next month. The land in question is owned by the city and is in East Jackson between Phillips and Cartmell streets. The Jackson Redevelopment Agency hopes to instead use the property for redevelopment purposes. Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist has said he supports the council’s plan. “I think that’s a good move by council to give thirty-day dialog and find out exactly a timetable for the charter school,” Gist said. “I think it would be good for the city. There’s no opposition to that, but also we need to move along.”
