Pancakes with princess fundraiser is a success

JACKSON, Tenn. — It was a Disney themed breakfast in downtown Jackson Saturday morning as residents got to eat pancakes with princesses. The breakfast was put on my the Miss Jackson Scholarship Pageant at Baker’s Rack. Guests could fill up their plates from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for $5. All money raised will be put towards the Miss Jackson scholarships and Children’s Miracle Network at Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis. Miss Jackson 2014, Karlie Roser, says feels the inaugural event was a success. “Thank you Jackson for helping us make this a great turnout. It’s been an awesome thing and I hope the Miss Jackson organization gets to do it again next year and make it such a great thing because I think everyone in Jackson loves it! It’s like Disney World came to Jackson,” Roser said. The three current title holders played princesses for a day in costumes donated by Special Occasions. Miss Jackson Scholarship Pageant Director Beth Murley told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News how they got this idea. “We went to Walt Disney World and they had the character breakfast so we got the idea to bring it back with us and do something in Jackson as a fundraiser and also to give the little girls a chance to see some real life princesses,” Murley said. With it being the first year they’ve done a fundraiser like this they weren’t sure what to expect the assistant director of the Miss Jackson Scholarship Pageant, Ashley Wilson, said. “We are just so excited. We were just kind of wondering last night how it was going to be, but when we opened the doors this morning and the line was around the building we were so excited,” Wilson said. Murley also told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News an anonymous donor gave $100 for all the supplies needed to put the breakfast together.
