Former sheriff, employees requesting back pay from commissioners

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn.- A request was been by former Gibson County Sheriff Chuck Arnold for more than $44,000 in back pay for himself and three of his former employees. The resolution was tabled by the Gibson County Commission Monday. In it, Arnold asked for more than $12,000 in comp time and 2,000 hours of sick leave be applied to his retirement.. His former Chief Deputy Jeff Maitland is requesting almost $21,000 in vacation and comp time. The one-time executive assistance to the sheriff Darla Crenshaw and former warrants clerk Jennifer Jones-Hudson are asking for more than $7,700 and close to $3,400 respectively in vacation, holiday and comp time. All three are also requesting sick time be applied to their state retirement. Commissioners will likely discuss the request at their next meeting in October.
