HARDIN COUNTY — The annual drawdown of the popular Pickwick Landing Reservior will be done sooner rather than later this year. According to the Tennessee Valley Authority, the water level drop is being accelerated for reservoirs located in West Tennessee, Northeast Mississippi and Northwest Alabama. It is partly in result of a recent inspection suggesting the 4,000-foot earthen embankment near the dam could be damaged by a large earthquake. The winter pool will be reached by mid-October, six weeks earlier than normal. Testing will be conducted for several months.
