Jackson man arraigned on gun, drug charges

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man was arraigned Thursday in Jackson City Court on charges including illegal firearm possession and marijuana offenses. Ontavious Woods was arrested May 27 after investigators with Metro Narcotics executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Drive apartment, according to court papers. Woods was arraigned on charges including possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, felony possession of a firearm, manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent, possession of schedule I and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court papers. During the search, investigators found a handgun, an ecstasy pill, ammunition and digital scales with marijuana residue, according to court papers. Investigators also found four marijuana plants in the breezeway near the apartment that had been moved from a bedroom in the apartment, according to the report. The woman who lived at the apartment said that Woods was her boyfriend and that he stayed there with her. She told investigators the marijuana plants and other items belonged to Woods, according to the report. Woods is being held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18 for his preliminary hearing.
