Man faces aggravated robbery charge in Jackson court

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A robbery at gunpoint earlier this month leads to a man’s arraignment on an aggravated robbery charge Thursday in Jackson City Court. Police say on Sept. 5 Montreal Portis Robinson entered a residence on 5th Street in Jackson. Robinson then brandished a handgun to the man who lived there and pointed it at the man’s head, according to court papers. The report also says a second unidentified black man entered the residence and put a gun to the head of the occupant’s girlfriend. The men took property including a Glock handgun, a TV, about $500 cash, two cell phones and car keys, according to the report. Before leaving, Robinson told the man and woman that he would come back and kill them if they called the police, according to court papers. Robinson is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be back in court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18 for his preliminary hearing.
