Neighbors react to Henry Co. homicide

NEW CONCORD, Ky. — An apparent murder in Henry County leaves a Clarksville man dead and a close-knit neighborhood devastated. Deputies with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office found the body of Bobby Dozier, 80, Tuesday in a wooded area near Paris. Dozier was last seen at his lake house just across the border in New Concord, Ky. Residents in the small neighborhood on Kentucky Lake said they are still in shock trying to figure out how their friendly neighbor was taken advantage of. “He was a real likable person, didn’t have any enemies that we know of,” next-door neighbor John Coyle said. He would have given you the shirt off his back.” Investigators said they first found Dozier’s dog in Henry County, which helped them find the location of his body. “Mr. Dozier’s dog had been found on Port Rd,” Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew said. “We ended up concentrating our search in that area.” Benji the dog was Dozier’s best friend, going with him everywhere he went. Now, John Coyle and his family have taken him in. “We loved the little dog,” Coyle said. “He’s been around here. The whole neighborhood loves him.” Coyle said Dozier was known for going on long drives with Benji. “He would go out and ride around, just him and his dog,” Coyle said. “Ride around the neighborhoods just to see what he could see, just passing the time.” As the time quickly passes, residents hope whoever did this is found and brought to justice. “It’s going to happen to somebody else,” Coyle said. “This person was not satisfied with Bob. Bob was lucky if he had $20 in his pocket, maybe a couple credit cards.” There is a reward being offered for any information leading to an arrest in Dozier’s death. If you have any information, you are urged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (731) 642-0929.
