Man accused of inappropriately touching girl at library appears in court

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man who stands accused of inappropriately touching a teenage girl at the Jackson-Madison County Library appeared Thursday in court. Jerry Fernard McKinney appeared in Jackson City Court where he entered a guilty plea to a reduced sentence of simple assault. McKinney will serve 11 months and 29 days of supervised probation and will have to go through court-mandated treatment from Pathways. The incident happened in May when McKinney admitted to touching the 17-year-old girl in the library’s teen room.
