WEST JACKSON — A group working to improve Tennessee’s child protection and juvenile systems met Monday in Jackson to discuss their plans. The Three Branches Institute is an initiative by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. The group met at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture West Tennessee Research and Education Center on Airways Boulevard. The group is made up of members from the three branches of government, bringing together members of the executive, legislative and judicial branches to work with the department. Group members tell us their main goal is to develop a clear plan to understand child protection work in the state and to develop a guide to handle dropout rates in hopes of keeping juvenile crime down. The group started in 2012 and meets four times throughout the year.
