Man accused of trying to rape blind woman appears in court

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man accused of trying to rape a blind woman appeared in Jackson City Court this morning. Austin Wiley is charged with aggravated sexual battery, attempted aggravated rape and aggravated burglary. The victim says she woke up to a man on top of her, holding her down and telling her to be quiet, while also holding a knife to her arm. The victim’s caregiver said when she heard screams she ran in and saw a man on top of her, a man she later identified as Wiley. Wiley’s case was bound over to the grand jury. He is still being held on $150,000 bond.
