Miss. man accused of soliciting minor is formally charged

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man accused of traveling to Jackson from out of state for sex with a minor was in court Tuesday. Bryan Turner, 40, of Walnut, Miss., came to the Old Hickory Mall in Jackson to meet an underage boy for sex, according to the Jackson Police Department. The department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was notified Turner had been communicating with the boy in an online chat room, according to court documents. Investigators examined messages and determined Turner solicited the minor for sex and planned to meet him at the Old Hickory Mall, according to the report. Police later found Turner waiting for the boy in the food court at the mall. Turner is charged with solicitation of aggravated statutory rape. He is being held on $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 16 for a preliminary hearing.
