DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Advocates and supporters of domestic violence prevention gathered in downtown Jackson,Tuesday night as WRAP hosted its annual Candlelight Vigil on the court square. The organization hosts the solemn ceremony in October because the month not only signifies Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but it also is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The candlelight vigil honors the lives lost to domestic violence and those who are still fighting. Organizers say it is important to remind victims they are not alone. “We want to honor the memories of victims and comfort their loved ones,” said Daryl Chansuthus, executive director of WRAP. “This is to remind us we all have a role to play in keeping people safe.” If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship and need help, call WRAP at 1-800-273-8712.
