Police: Man assaulted girlfriend after accusing her of cheating

NORTH JACKSON — A man is in court after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend after accusing her of cheating on him. Jackson police responded to a West University Parkway residence where a woman said Tavaris Santonio Massey, her boyfriend, had entered the house and accused her of cheating on him, according to court documents. Massey is accused of punching the woman in the back of the head and then strangling her, the report states. The report goes on the state officers saw injuries on the victim’s head and neck. Massey is charged with aggravated domestic assault. He is being held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 3 for a preliminary hearing.
