DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Lock your cars before you go to bed — that is the message from local officers. Jackson police say over the weekend burglars broke into at least 10 cars in several parking lots and driveways throughout the city. Officers say the suspects checked for unlocked doors and stole wallets, cash and at least three guns, including an AR-15. Officers say valuables should always be kept in a safe place. “I like to tell people that your car is not a safe,” said Jeff Shepard with the Jackson Police Department. “A safe would be inside your home. It is actually made to be able to hold valuables in and keep somebody out.” If you have any information about the person or persons behind these recent burglaries, call Jackson police or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-TIPS (8477).
