Humboldt police connect woman to Molotov cocktail, vandalism

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Police in Humboldt believe they have linked one woman to two early Tuesday morning crimes. According to officers, at 12:16 a.m., officers responded to the area of 21st Avenue and Vine Street where a fire was burning in a driveway. The fire was extinguished, and a Molotov cocktail was recovered. At the same location, officers discovered the homeowner’s car had been damaged by a large rock. A second call at 2:53 a.m. sent officers to a home in the 900 block of North 21st Avenue. Police recovered a brick, which they say was thrown through a window and landed near where three children were sleeping on the floor. No one was injured. Anita Charnea Shivers, 22, of Humboldt, has been charged in both incidents. In the first, she faces counts of attempted arson and felony vandalism. In the second, she is charged with domestic assault, three counts of reckless endangerment and vandalism. As of Tuesday evening, Shivers was being held at the Gibson County Criminal Justice Complex without bond.
