Clothes dryer blamed for fire at Jackson home

MIDTOWN JACKSON — A clothes dryer is to blame for a Monday morning fire at a Jackson home on Briarwood Lane, according to the Jackson Fire Department. The fire was contained and caused no major damage, according to Jackson Fire Chief Max Stewart. Stewart said this fire can serve as a reminder for people to clean out the vent hose behind their dryer at least once every three months to prevent these types of fires from spreading. Stewart also said if someone had not been home at the time, the outcome could have been much worse.
