Judge grants Dylan Adams $25K bond on charges of raping Holly Bobo

DECATURVILLE, Tenn. — Dylan Adams was formally charged Wednesday with raping nursing student Holly Bobo. Adams pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape. Adams’ attorney Matthew Maddox also requested a bond be set, which was granted at $25,000 by Judge Creed McGinley. Family spokesperson Don Franks said they were surprised to hear he was granted bond. “I think that this is an indication of some things in the judicial system in the state of Tennessee that really need to be fixed,” Franks said. Moss Miller, a cousin of Dylan and Zach Adams, said he is unhappy with the progress of the case so far. He said Dylan is mentally incompetent and does not understand what is going on in the courtroom. “He has a learning disorder where he does not comprehend,” Miller said. “The family tells me he can’t even tell time.” District Attorney Matt Stowe said Dylan has faced mental evaluations in the past and was deemed competent. Miller also argues the pink and green bows that stand for “Justice for Holly” in and around the courthouse are hurting the defense for those accused. “These are government grounds,” Miller said. “I pay taxes in this county just like all the others and that’s not, to me, something that should be done.” Franks said the bows are only asking for justice. “It’s a free country,” Franks said. “There’s no restrictions on who can or can’t come into the courtroom.” Dylan Adams was previously charged with tampering with evidence after he admitted to destroying evidence pertinent to the case on April 13, 2011, the day Bobo disappeared. Those charges were dropped by Stowe. Adams will be back in court in December, as well as Zach Adams and Jason Autry, two other men charged in the case. Zach Adams and Jason Autry are both charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and first-degree murder in the Bobo case.
