Rise and Grind to cancel out Homecoming distractions

JACKSON, Tenn. – Lane College alumni always have homecoming weekend marked off on their calendar. The week is filled with laughter, fun and festivities. Catching up on lost time. Bumping into fraternity brothers and sorority sisters. But the experience students and alumni share is much different than the football team’s. “I get them here at five in the morning. That’s one way to neutralize the partying and everything that goes on with homecoming,” said head coach Malik Hoskins. The Dragons football game may be the center of attention of homecoming, but the team has bigger concerns. “That’s been the talk this week with seniors. This is your last home game and you want to go out a winner.” This year, Lane College faces Miles College. The last time the Dragons won on homecoming was in 2008. “That was my first year at Lane,” explained Hoskins. Lane and Miles College kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
