Deputies urge caution following fatal Madison Co. crash

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Department said the teen killed in Tuesday night’s accident in east Madison County was on his way to church. Family members of James Maybury, 18, told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he was on his way to the Abundant Life Family Worship Center in Cedar Grove. The church’s youth pastor said Maybury was “the greatest kid,” was involved with the church and was on his way to practice for the church’s Fall Fest play, which has since been canceled. The Madison County deputy who responded to the scene wants to remind drivers to be extra cautious. “Just always slow down, buckle up, you know, that’s the reason we’re out here doing traffic enforcement and giving tickets and trying to slow people down is for this very reason, and we don’t want to see it happen,” said Deputy Andrew Pollock with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. The family is asking for privacy at this time. Services for Maybury are being held Thursday and Friday in Jackson.
