Man sentenced to 90 years in Crockett Co. shooting, robbery

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — A man convicted in connection to the shooting of Friendship Police Chief Bill Garrett and the robbery of the Alamo Dollar General in 2012 has been sentenced to serve 90 years in prison. According to the TBI, Gary Wallace of Memphis will serve 90 years for six charges. Wallace was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder and five other counts. Investigators say Wallace and another man were with gunman Craig Barbee when he shot Garrett. Barbee was convicted last year. Garrett was off duty and shopping with his wife at the Dollar General. He was seriously injured but survived the shooting.
