First responders in Middleton no longer reimbursed for out of city calls

MIDDLETON, Tenn.- First responders in Middleton were told earlier this week that beginning November 1, they will no longer be reimbursed for their calls outside of the city limits. This decision was made by Mayor Jackie Cox and five other alderman who said they must comply with the state and no longer pay reimbursements for calls outside of the city. Officials said that last year Middleton first responders took 369 calls and only 85 of those calls fell within the city limits. “Our auditor informed us that we can not reimburse things that our outside of our city limits,” said Mayor Cox. At the meeting, the police commissioner and fire commissioner positions were also eliminated by the council. The positions were originally held by current alderman. The mayor said the reason for this was to eliminate conflict and make meetings more efficient.
