Ed Jackson clinches Dist. 27 Senate seat

JACKSON, Tenn. — Ed Jackson along with his supporters gathered at a Republican Party event at Casey Jones Village Tuesday night. Jackson won the District 27 State Senate seat left vacant by Lowe Finney. Jackson said he is excited to head to Nashville. “I just want to go to Nashville, help make a difference for the people in the 27th district, West Tennessee, and the whole state,” Jackson said. “I plan to work for everyone. It was a victory for everyone here tonight.” We also caught up with Randy Lamb during his concession speech, saying he’s happy for everyone’s continued support throughout the campaign. “Thank you all for your wonderful support,” Lamb said. “Go home and give yourself a pat on the back if you supported me. That’s all I ever asked you to do.” These are the totals for the Dist. 27 race: Ed Jackson, GOP 23,329 – 60 percent
Randy Lamb, Dem 13,513 – 35 percent
Tim York, CST 1,139 – 3 percent
James Baxter, Ind 779 – 2 percent Baxter dropped out of the race last week and announced he was instead shifting his focus to run for next year’s race for Jackson mayor. He and democratic challneger Lowe Finney face incumbent Jerry Gist. The district includes Madison, Crockett, Dyer, Lake and Lauderdale counties and was represented by Democrat Lowe Finney, who decided not to seek re-election.
