DOWNTOWN JACKSON — The three suspects charged in the fire that destroyed the Old Media Winery appeared Thursday in court. Nicholas Beecher, 24, Derek A. Burgess, 25, and Kristen M. Emison, 21, all of Jackson, appeared in Madison County General Sessions court where their cases were waived to the grand jury. Each was scheduled a tentative grand jury in February. All are still being held in lieu of $80,000 bond. The three are charged in an alleged break-in, vandalism and arson that led to what officials count as $300,000 worth of damages at the former business. The charges include two counts of burglary, one count of vandalism and one count of arson.
