Bolivar substitute teacher under investigation

BOLIVAR, Tenn.– Bolivar Elementary has been put under a microscope after a substitute teacher is accused of striking a student on Thursday. The Hardeman Board of Education confirmed that they are investigating a incident involving a 12-year-old student and a substitute teacher. “If it’s true and the teacher did this, then she should be fired, it’s that simple,” said Tonya Gilliam. The board said they would not release anymore information regarding the incident until it is complete. “The way I look at it is, that should never have to put your hands on a child. You just shouldn’t have to ever feel like you need to put your hands on a child,” said Dorothy McKinnie. The school board has not yet set a time table on when the investigation will be complete.
